In these conditions, the need for this area, which has an indispensable importance in the health system, is increasing. Today, one of the most important factors in the emergence of chronic diseases, one of the most common health problems in all countries of the world, is nutrition and lifestyle. Obesity is a health problem that has the highest share of health expenditures in many countries, especially in developed and developing countries, and also causes diseases such as hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes. With the increase of obesity and the diseases it causes, the importance of the dietitian profession has also increased.
Dietician is defined as a professional person who has been trained in the field of nutrition and dietetics, provides services to individuals and societies on food, nutrition and dietetics at all stages of the life cycle, produces nutrition plans and policies and trains. International Confederation of Dietetic Associations (ICDA) dietitian; It defines as "a person who has legally accepted qualifications in the field of nutrition and dietetics, and practices in the nutrition and education of individuals and groups in health and disease, in the light of nutritional science".
Students who are interested in the Nutrition and Dietetics program must be successful in the YKS (AYT) numeric score type. In addition, our students are expected to be interested in biology, chemistry, physiology, psychology and basic medical sciences required by the program. Therefore, the study areas are also quite extensive. Education, research and hospital dietitian, executive dietitian, public health dietitian, food industry, private nutrition counseling, sports clubs, fitness centers, athletic counseling, enteral-parenteral nutrition and elderly home care services are some of the dieticians' work.
