In dental health, emergency intervention is critically important.

December 24 2025

In traumatic dental injuries such as fractures, cracks, displacement, or complete loss of teeth resulting from falls, impacts, sports injuries, traffic accidents, or everyday blows, timely intervention is of great importance.

A fractured tooth fragment can be reattached if properly preserved; a dislodged permanent tooth, if reattached under the right conditions within 30 minutes, has a high chance of remaining viable. Therefore, immediate intervention is critical for both aesthetics and function, as well as for preventing complications the patient might face in later years.

Oral and dental health is an integral part of overall health. Cavities, gum disease, or trauma don't just stay in the mouth; they directly affect nutrition, speech, self-confidence, and quality of life. Instilling good habits from an early age is critically important both in preventing diseases and reducing treatment costs. It is possible to prevent major health problems through preventive practices.

Traumatic dental injuries must be managed correctly.

Timely intervention is crucial for traumatic dental injuries, also known as "dental traumas." Traumatic dental injuries are significant injuries such as fractures, cracks, displacement, or complete loss of teeth resulting from falls, impacts, sports accidents, traffic accidents, or blows that occur in daily life. They are common in childhood and adolescence and can progress to tooth loss if not properly managed. Therefore, it is very important for both families and individuals to be aware of this issue.

For a dislodged tooth, 30 minutes are critical!

Early intervention is crucial in cases of fractures, displacements, or tooth loss resulting from falls, impacts, sports injuries, and traffic accidents; however, time is of the essence in trauma cases. A fractured tooth fragment can be reattached if properly preserved; a dislodged permanent tooth has a high chance of survival if reattached within 30 minutes under the right conditions. Therefore, emergency intervention is critical for both aesthetics and function, as well as for preventing complications the patient may face in later years. It can be said that correct first aid knowledge saves lives.

The most important factor is seeing a dentist in a timely manner.

Oral and dental health problems resulting from such events are treatable. Thanks to today's advanced dental technologies, broken teeth can be repaired, displaced or loose teeth can be stabilized, and teeth that have been removed can be reimplanted. Regular follow-ups support the healing of the tooth's root development, nerve and blood vessel structure, and surrounding tissues after trauma. The most important factor is for the patient to consult a dentist in a timely manner.

Sports mouthguards should be used.

Prevention is always more effective than treatment. Children and young people who participate in sports must use custom-made sports mouthguards. Indoor accidents are a significant cause of trauma in children; therefore, measures should be taken to prevent slippery surfaces, cover sharp furniture corners, and ensure stair safety. Wearing a helmet and mouthguard while cycling, scootering, or rollerblading also significantly reduces the risk of trauma.

Pay attention to these recommendations to protect your oral and dental health!

Every investment in oral health is a valuable step that positively impacts overall health in the long run. These steps include:

-The most effective way to protect oral health is to instill regular oral hygiene habits from a young age.

-Teeth should be brushed twice a day with fluoride toothpaste.

– Consumption of sugary snacks and acidic drinks should be reduced.

– Routine dental check-ups should be done every 6 months.

– Dental floss or interdental brushes should be used.

– To prevent trauma, sports mouthguards should be preferred.
