To provide services that meet the needs of society, psychologists must acquire competence and graduate from appropriate training programs. Rapidly changing social dynamics lead to the emergence of psychological challenges. The increasing number of individuals experiencing psychological challenges such as depression and anxiety is increasing the need for competent clinical psychologists. Given the importance of an evidence-based approach to the effectiveness of clinical practice, training practitioners with a critical perspective and a strong understanding of the scientific method is crucial. With the increasing multidisciplinary perspective in the healthcare field, it is anticipated that clinical psychologists will play an active role in the treatment planning of physical illnesses as well as psychological challenges. Graduate education in clinical psychology has become a necessity for those wishing to work as psychologists in healthcare institutions and counseling centers, or pursue an academic career. The increasing number of students, the growing population, and the proliferation of psychological problems in society necessitate an increase in the number of academics who can provide solutions to these problems and the number of expert clinical psychologists who can provide services. Despite this growing need, the number of clinical psychologists in Türkiye is insufficient to meet the needs of society and institutions. For this reason, there is a need for more competent clinical psychologists.
