The 22nd BILMÖK 2026 was held at Istanbul Atlas University.

April 30 2026

The 22nd Computer Engineering Students Congress (BİLMÖK), organized to support the professional and social development of students interested in the field of information technology, was held at Istanbul Atlas University.

Students from various universities across Türkiye studying computer engineering, software engineering, and information technology had the opportunity to meet with industry representatives at this important event.

The 22nd BİLMÖK, held at Istanbul Atlas University's Vadi Campus on April 25-26, 2026, brought together numerous students from across Turkey with experts working in this field, contributing to the sharing of current technological developments. Participants had the opportunity to gain both theoretical and practical knowledge.

Professor Dr. Ali Sınağ's advice: "Develop your skills."

Speaking at the opening ceremony held in the Dr. Ralph Defronzo Auditorium, Istanbul Atlas University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Sınağ stated that computer engineering is a field at the heart of the entrepreneurship ecosystem, with numerous related components such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and data management.

Noting that a huge change is taking place in higher education and that competition is important, Prof. Dr. Ali Sınağ said, “We are now facing a higher education system shaped by output-oriented approaches, and the second component of this change is competition. That is, there is currently intense competition not only on a national scale but also on an international scale. If you limit your competencies to just four years of education and think of university education as merely a place where you come and go within four walls, you are unfortunately in danger of not being able to be at the forefront of this competition. Please don't let the development of your competencies remain just talk. Being able to express yourself in English – and I emphasize English – has become a necessity. And the question of what constitutes a second or third language is being debated.”

Professor Dr. Ali Sınağ, stating that awareness in the field of entrepreneurship is important in addition to learning foreign languages, underlined the need to follow the developments taking place in the world and in our country. Professor Dr. Ali Sınağ said, "You absolutely do not have the luxury of staying within your own discipline. You have to consider participating in startups, R&D, and the R&D ecosystem."

Prof. Dr. Hasan Hüseyin Balık: “Computer Engineering is a field that connects all disciplines.”

Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Prof. Dr. Hasan Hüseyin Balık, stated that the congress would discuss the future of computer engineering, saying, “When we think of traditional engineering, we think of massive structures, complex mechanical systems, and large-scale energy networks. However, at the point we have reached today, computer engineering has become a central nervous system that connects all these disciplines; it gives them a soul and intelligence. While other engineering fields try to explore beyond the boundaries, computer engineering is the fundamental force that writes the rules of the possibilities beyond those boundaries. Computer engineering is not just an option among other engineering disciplines, but a foundation upon which all engineering branches rise, carry, and transform.”

Dr. Recep Duranay, Assistant Professor: “The congress will provide students with very important benefits.”

Associate Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Dr. Recep Duranay, expressed his pleasure at hosting such a well-established and valuable organization as the Computer Engineering Student Congress at Istanbul Atlas University, stating, “Today, we are here not only for a congress, but also in a very valuable environment where scientific production and a vision for the future come together. When we look at the history of science and technology, we see that great transformations often begin with small but effective steps. I believe that this congress will provide very important benefits to students studying in this field.”

Academics, industry representatives, and expert speakers participated.

The congress, which aimed to increase communication and interaction among students interested in information and technology fields, contribute to professional and personal development, evaluate current developments in the field of technology, and enable students to share information by meeting with participants from different universities, also included academics, industry representatives, and expert speakers in the field.

An opportunity was provided for a meeting between the industry and students.

During BİLMÖK 2026, students had the opportunity to directly interact with industry professionals. The sessions covered current developments in the technology world and provided participants with significant contributions to their career planning. The interactive sessions, in particular, increased participant engagement. Students benefited from the speakers' experiences by asking them questions directly.

The Congress Attracted Attention with its Important Outcomes.

BILMÖK 2026 not only served as a knowledge-sharing environment but also contributed to the creation of a strong student network. Evaluations at the end of the event revealed that participants showed a higher level of focus, particularly in the initial parts of the sessions. Accordingly, it was considered beneficial to plan shorter, more interactive sessions for future congresses.

Istanbul Atlas University brought together university students from all over Türkiye.

The 22nd BILMÖK 2026, whose Organizing Committee consisted of students from Istanbul Atlas University, concluded as a successful congress that brought together students from all over Türkiye, strengthening knowledge sharing and interaction. Students from different universities had the opportunity to experience the campus environment and make new connections.

Official participants, selected to represent each university, also played an active role in the event. Through these official participants, election processes for BİLMÖK's future structure were conducted; candidate universities presented their proposals; and a democratic election process was implemented to determine the university that will host the congress next year.
