Five research proposals, ranging from cancer research to studies on obesity, polycystic ovary syndrome, and cell cultures, were deemed worthy of support.
Atlas University Faculty of Medicine Makes Strong Contributions to Scientific Research
Atlas University Faculty of Medicine students are continuing their work in scientific research and project development within the scope of the TÜBİTAK 2209 program. The students' projects, focusing on various medical and biomedical research topics, stand out both for their search for solutions to current health problems and for their contributions to the academic development of student researchers.
A total of 5 research proposals prepared by medical faculty students have been awarded funding under the TÜBİTAK 2209 program, to be conducted under the guidance of expert academics in their respective fields.
Cancer Research Projects Attract Attention
Atlas University Faculty of Medicine students have achieved success in the TÜBİTAK 2209 competition with three different projects focused on cancer research.
Serum Perilipin-2 Levels to be Investigated in Gastric Cancer Patients
The research proposal titled "Diagnostic Value of Serum Perilipin-2 Levels in Gastric Cancer" aims to investigate the potential diagnostic value of serum Perilipin-2 (PLIN2) levels in the diagnosis of gastric cancer.
Prof. Dr. Servet Karagül and Prof. Dr. Hafize Uzun served as advisors for the project, while Emre Koyuncu was the student applicant.
The Diagnostic Value of PLIN2 in Colorectal Cancer Will Be Investigated.
The project titled "Diagnostic Value of Serum Perilipin-2 (PLIN2) Levels in Patients with Colorectal Cancer" aims to evaluate serum PLIN2 levels from a diagnostic perspective in patients with colorectal cancer.
The project, supervised by Prof. Dr. Servet Karagül and Prof. Dr. Hafize Uzun, will be carried out by Medical Faculty student Abrar FadrAllah.
The Effect of Bariatric Surgery on Perilipin-2 Will Be Investigated
The research proposal titled "Evaluation of the Effect of Bariatric Surgery on Perilipin-2 Levels in Morbidly Obese Patients" focuses on the relationship between obesity surgery and Perilipin-2 levels.
Ceyda Evci's project will be advised by Prof. Dr. Servet Karagül and Prof. Dr. Hafize Uzun.
Research on Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
One of the projects supported for medical faculty students is in the field of women's health.
The study, titled "Cathestatin Levels in Patients with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome," plans to examine catestatin levels in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome.
Sarina Nouri Youshanlouei was selected as the student applicant for the project, which will be supervised by Prof. Dr. Hafize Uzun.
Investigation of Hypericum Perforatum in MCF-7 Cell Culture
Another study supported under the TÜBİTAK 2209 program will be conducted in the field of cancer biology and cell culture.
The project titled "Investigation of Antioxidant and Antiproliferative Effects of Hypericum Perforatum in Bacterial Cellulose-Based 3D MCF-7 Cell Culture" aims to research the antioxidant and antiproliferative effects of Hypericum perforatum in a 3D MCF-7 cell culture model.
The project was advised by Lecturer Betül Çıkı, while the student applicants were Ali Tek and Elif Karabulut.
Student-Focused Research Culture at Atlas University
These projects, supported under the TÜBİTAK 2209 program, demonstrate the active participation of Atlas University Faculty of Medicine students in scientific research processes. The studies, spanning various disciplines, offer opportunities to conduct research in current health fields such as cancer, obesity, women's health, and cell biology.
Students developing projects under the guidance of academic advisors, gaining experience in research methodology, and becoming involved in scientific production processes at an early stage constitutes a significant advantage in terms of academic development.
Future physicians are participating in scientific research through TÜBİTAK 2209 Projects.
The projects supported by TÜBİTAK 2209, implemented by students of Atlas University Faculty of Medicine, demonstrate that students are actively involved not only in clinical training but also in scientific research. The aim of implementing six different research proposals is to enhance students' research experience and enable them to approach current problems in medicine using scientific methods.
