Give a Voice to Knowledge 2026 – Vocational School Social Contribution Project

August 25, 2026

As Atlas University Vocational School, we have completed the preparation and planning process for our "Give a Voice to Knowledge 2026 - Atlas Vocational School Volunteer Reading Social Contribution Project Supporting Access to Information for Visually Impaired Individuals," which we launched to support the access of visually impaired individuals to information and written resources.

Following our discussions with Bağcılar Municipality Feyzullah Kıyıklık Disabled Persons' Palace, our project's implementation partner, we also met with our volunteer Atlas Vocational School academics to determine our implementation process and roadmap.

In the first phase of the project, which will run from August 31 to December 31, 2026, our academics will contribute to the process as volunteer readers. The reading sessions will begin with works requested by visually impaired individuals through the Boğaziçi University GETEM system, as well as books prepared for audio recording by the Feyzullah Kıyıklık Disabled Persons' Palace.

In our project, volunteering will not be limited to simply recording audiobooks. Our volunteers will also assist in the editing and post-production processes of the audio recordings, contributing to making accessible content ready for use.

With the start of the 2026-2027 academic year, we aim to make Atlas Vocational School students active stakeholders in the project. In this way, we will expand the volunteer movement that began with our academics by including our students, strengthening the culture of accessibility, volunteerism, and social responsibility throughout the vocational school.

We envision "Give a Voice to Knowledge" not as a one-off social responsibility initiative, but as a sustainable ecosystem of social contribution.

Therefore, "Give a Voice to Knowledge 2026" will be completed on December 31, 2026; the outputs, participation data, and feedback obtained throughout the process will be evaluated, and the experience gained will be improved upon and relaunched as the "Give a Voice to Knowledge 2027" project for the new period.

With this model, which is renewed and improved every year and involves more volunteers in the process, we aim to create a sustainable culture of social contribution that mobilizes our university's academic human resources and our students' volunteer energy for the benefit of society.

Our project also contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically SDG 4 – Quality Education, SDG 10 – Reducing Inequalities, and SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals.

We would like to thank Bağcılar Municipality Feyzullah Kıyıklık Disabled Persons' Palace and all the academics who contributed to our project on a voluntary basis.
