The Nutrition and Dietetics White Coat Ceremony, held in the Dr. Ralph A. Defronzo Auditorium at the Atlas Valley Campus, began with opening speeches.
Prof. Dr. Ali Sınağ: “We are preparing our students for the future in the most comprehensive way.”
Istanbul Atlas University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Sınağ stated that the university prepares its students for the future by training them with the necessary skills and considering the needs of the sector. He emphasized that nutrition and dietetics is a very important field and that there will be an even greater need for well-trained dietitians in this area in the future.
Prof. Dr. Aytolan Yıldırım: “Future Dietitians Will Have Important Responsibilities”
Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Prof. Dr. Aytolan Yıldırım, stated that the nutrition and dietetics department holds a very important place in the field of health sciences, and that future dietitians will have crucial roles in preventing and treating chronic diseases such as obesity, diabetes, and heart disease. Prof. Dr. Aytolan Yıldırım noted that they are training their students in line with the needs of the future.
Prof. Dr. M. Emel Alphan: “Develop Yourself Throughout Life”
In her opening speech, Prof. Dr. M. Emel Alphan, Head of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at the Faculty of Health Sciences, celebrated the May 19th Youth and Sports Day and the upcoming June 6th Dietitians' Day. Stating that they always support their students in becoming successful and well-equipped dietitians and performing the profession in the best possible way, Prof. Dr. M. Emel Alphan advised her students to continue developing themselves throughout their lives.
Class representative Gökçe Sağlam also thanked the academics who had provided them with the best possible education over the past three years in her speech.

Following the opening speeches, third-year students of the Nutrition and Dietetics Department donned their white coats, taking their first step into the profession. Emotional moments were experienced during the ceremony, which was also attended by parents.

At the end of the opening speeches, Professor Dr. M. Emel Alphan, who is celebrating her 50th year in the profession this year, was treated to a surprise by her students and colleagues, led by Professor Dr. Aytolan Yıldırım.
