In her study, Dr. Şirin Tufan examined the language preferences, attitudes towards the Macedonian language, and intergenerational language transmission of the Macedonian-speaking Muslim community that settled in Mustafapaşa after the 1923 Population Exchange. The research was conducted through a field study involving 64 participants.
The research revealed that despite the community's strong cultural and emotional attachment to the Macedonian language, it is not being adequately passed on to younger generations. Turkish is becoming increasingly dominant, while Macedonian is primarily used among older speakers and in family communication.
We congratulate our faculty member and wish them continued success.
