Faculty members from the Department of English Language and Literature presented their papers at international academic events.

Faculty members from the Department of English Language and Literature at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences successfully represented our university by presenting their research at the "18th International IDEA Conference: Studies in English," held at Hacettepe University between May 13-15, 2026, and the "CONGIST'26 Social Sciences Congress: Interdisciplinary Approaches to Crisis Dynamics," held concurrently at the Faculty of Letters, Istanbul University.

Dr. Gökben Güçlü, Head of the Department of English Language and Literature, presented her paper titled “A Blue Humanist Reading of Cevat Şakir Kabaağaçlı's Aganta Burina Burinata: Mahmut's 'Blue Crisis of Belonging'” at the CONGIST'26 Social Sciences Congress.

Dr. Hande Kolat, Assistant Professor, presented her paper titled “Estranded from The Earth: Ecological Crisis and Human-Nature Rupture in the Cinema of Nuri Bilge Ceylan” at the CONGIST'26 Social Sciences Congress: Interdisciplinary Approaches to Crisis Dynamics, organized by Istanbul University.

Dr. Hande Kolat also shared her paper titled “Silent Landscapes, Violent Progress: An Ecocritical Reading of Train Dreams” with the participants at the “18th International IDEA Conference: Studies in English” held at Hacettepe University.

Dr. Gülay Gülpınar Özoran, Assistant Professor, presented her paper titled “Politics of Recognition: Sacrificial and Mourning Rituals in Pat Barker's Women of Troy” at the “18th International IDEA Conference: Studies in English”.

Dr. Merve Atasoy, Assistant Professor, presented her paper titled “Melting in the Mirror: Between Individuality and Anonymity in A Mind at Peace and Between the Acts” at the “18th International IDEA Conference: Studies in English” hosted by Hacettepe University.
