Artificial Intelligence in the Future of Engineering: A Multidisciplinary Perspective

The second in a series of academic and scientific meetings organized by the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences at Istanbul Atlas University focused on the impact of artificial intelligence on engineering.

The event, attended by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees Dr. Yusuf Elgörmüş and the Rector Prof. Dr. Ersoy Kocabıçak, comprehensively addressed artificial intelligence-based transformation in the fields of engineering, health, and education.

The event, held at the Atlas Valley Campus Creative Lab and attended by Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Engin Gülal and Prof. Dr. Zafer Utlu, Board of Trustees Chief Advisor Prof. Dr. Ali Sınağ, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences Prof. Dr. Hasan Hüseyin Balık, General Secretary Yaşar Ös, Dr. Hakan Karalök from the Faculty of Medicine, department heads, and academics, provided an opportunity for an exchange of information.

Artificial Intelligence Takes Center Stage in Engineering

The development of artificial intelligence technologies is leading to radical changes in engineering disciplines. Evaluations at the event highlighted the contributions of artificial intelligence, particularly in areas such as production process automation, data analysis, and system optimization. Participants stated that future engineering applications will be shaped by human-machine collaboration.

New Horizons in Health and Education

The meeting highlighted that artificial intelligence is not limited to engineering but is also playing a transformative role in critical sectors such as healthcare and education. In the healthcare field, applications such as early diagnosis, personalized treatment, and medical data analysis were emphasized; while in education, individualized learning experiences and digital education models were discussed.

Emphasis on Interdisciplinary Collaboration

One of the key themes of the event was the necessity of a multidisciplinary approach. It was stated that collaboration between different scientific disciplines would enable more effective utilization of the opportunities offered by artificial intelligence. Academics emphasized that future professionals need to possess critical thinking and adaptability skills in addition to technical knowledge.

Future Assessments

The meeting also addressed ethical aspects of artificial intelligence, data security, and sustainability. Participants emphasized the importance of approaching technological developments with a human-centered perspective.
