1st Psychology Student Congress

We are organizing the 1st Atlas University Psychology Student Congress!

The 1st Atlas University Psychology Student Congress, organized by the Department of Psychology and the Psychology Club of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Istanbul Atlas University, will take place on October 23, 2025. The congress, which will be held for university psychology students, will discuss current research on a wide range of topics, including the relationship between ADHD, OCD, and autism symptoms in adults, earthquake trauma, female psychology in the workplace, and smoking addiction. 

The Atlas University 1st Psychology Student Congress, which will be held at the Dr. Ralph A. DeFronzo Auditorium on Atlas University's Valley Campus, will begin with a tour of the Psychology Laboratory and opening remarks, followed by the opening lecture titled "Genius" and Neuropsychiatric Illness by Psychology Department Specialist Wayne M. Dinn. 

Following the opening conference, the first session of the congress will take place. Participants from Istanbul Atlas University's Department of Psychology will include Berfin Kılınç, Melike Varol, Peri Göksel, Yaren Karslı, Dr. Fatma Göral, and Specialist Wayne M. Dinn. The first session will focus on "The Relationship Between Adult Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Symptoms and Obsessive-Compulsive and Autism Spectrum Disorder Symptoms." 

In the rest of the session, Sena Demirci, Merve Koyuncu, and Dr. Hasan Galip Bahçekapılı from Istanbul Medipol University's Department of Psychology will present "The Effect of Uniform on Women's Perception of Attractiveness: An Evolutionary Study." 

The first session will conclude with a presentation titled “The February 6 Earthquake and Psychological Reflections on University Students: The Predictive Effect of Hopelessness and Earthquake Awareness” by Elifcan Ayaz from Okan University's Psychology Department and Prof. Dr. Ayşe Ayçiçeği Dinn from Atlas University's Psychology Department. 

In the second session of the congress, Nur Yücedağ from University of Sussex Department of Psychology will contribute with her presentation titled “The Effects of Reproductive Health on Female Employees in the Workplace”, Şeyma Aydın Öztürk, Prof. Dr. Ayşe Ayçiçeği Dinn, and Spec. Wayne M. Dinn from Atlas University Department of Psychology will contribute with her presentation titled “Tobacco Use among University Students: A Current Assessment.” In the same session, Sevil Gümüş, Dr. Simge Şişman Bal from Istanbul University Department of Psychology, and Prof. Dr. Ayşe Ayçiçeği Dinn from Atlas University Department of Psychology will make their presentations titled “The Relationship between Religiosity and Cognitive Styles and Decision Making in Moral Dilemmas.” The session will conclude with the presentations titled “The Relationship between Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder and Neurocognitive Tests” by Burçak Tutku Çağlayan, Yunusemre Gümüş, Ünzile Ulusoy, Nilsu Avşar, Dr. Fatma Göral, and Spec. Wayne M. Dinn from Atlas University Department of Psychology. 

The congress will conclude with the closing lecture titled “Two States of Learning” by Boğaziçi University Psychology Department Emeritus Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Reşit Canbeyli.
