The 14th March Medical Day Week Events, held at the Atlas Valley Campus between March 9-14, attracted great interest with academic talks, cultural events, and artistic programs. Throughout the week, the social, legal, and cultural aspects of medicine were discussed with contributions from academics from various disciplines.
Medicine Through the Eyes of the Press and Media
The first day of the events featured a discussion titled "Medicine Through the Eyes of the Press and Media," moderated by Prof. Dr. Selim Badur from the Department of Medical Microbiology at our Faculty of Medicine. Health reporters Sibel Güneş, Mesude Demir, and Melike Şahin participated as speakers, evaluating the reflections of the medical profession in the media and society from different perspectives.
The Intersections of the History of Science, Belief, and Philosophy
On the second day of the program, in a talk titled "Symbolic and Philosophical Intersections in the History of Faith, Philosophy and Science" held at Creative Labs, Assoc. Dr. Gürcan Vural from the Department of Medical Pathology at our Faculty of Medicine discussed the relationships between the history of science and the world of thought.
The Legal Aspects of Medical Practice
At the event titled "The Legal Aspects of Medical Practice," held on Wednesday, March 11th, Dr. İlhan Açıkgöz, Attorney at Law, provided insights into the legal framework of medical practices and the responsibilities of healthcare professionals.
Concert from Atlas Music Club
As part of the events, a musical performance by the Atlas Music Club in the ground floor foyer area on Thursday, March 12th, provided participants with enjoyable moments.
Medical Professionals' Day Ceremony and 40th Anniversary Plaques for Academics
The Medical Professionals' Day Ceremony was held on Friday, March 13th, in the Dr. Ralph A. DeFronzo Auditorium. Academics, students, and healthcare professionals gathered for the event.
During the ceremony, plaques were presented by our Board of Trustees Chairman, Dr. Yusuf Elgörmüş, to our Faculty of Medicine academics who have completed 40 years in their profession.
The program also included presentations by Prof. Dr. Erhan Uncu titled “Vesalius: The Father of Anatomy” and Prof. Dr. Vahide Savcı titled “Vagal Exercises in Stress Management”.
The 3rd Visual Arts Exhibition has opened.
The opening of the 3rd Visual Arts Exhibition, which will be held in the ground floor foyer area between March 13-31, also took place on Friday, March 13, 2026. The painting and photography exhibition presented visitors with works reflecting the relationship between art, medicine, and human experience.
The March 14th Medical Professionals' Day Week Events, which took place with great interest from our academics, students, and participants, concluded as a productive and inspiring program that brought together science, art, and social perspectives.
