The 19th World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT) Congress, one of the largest international scientific events in the field of occupational therapy, was held in Bangkok, Thailand, from February 9–12, 2026. Bringing together occupational therapists from various fields worldwide, the congress stands out as an important global platform contributing to the scientific development of the profession.
The theme of this year's congress is "Inspiring Change, Innovating Futures." The theme emphasizes the need for occupational therapy professionals to develop innovative approaches and produce future-oriented solutions in the face of changing healthcare systems, societal needs, and technological advancements.
Atlas University Occupational Therapy Department academic staff members, Lecturer Melike Selin İkinci Kaya and Research Assistant Selin Kuzu, also participated in this important international event, following the current research and clinical application approaches presented at the congress and sharing scientific knowledge and experience with colleagues from different countries. The scientific sessions, poster presentations, and working groups held during the congress provided an important discussion and learning environment in terms of the global development of occupational therapy, interdisciplinary collaborations, and innovative practices.
The congress also served as an international meeting point where strategic perspectives on the future of occupational therapy education, research, and clinical practice were discussed. The participation of our department's academic staff in such global events not only enhances the scientific visibility of our university but also contributes to the development of international academic collaborations and the integration of current knowledge and practices in occupational therapy into educational processes.
As the Occupational Therapy Department of Atlas University, we will continue to participate in international scientific platforms that contribute to the development of the profession and to reflect the knowledge and experience gained in education, research, and application areas.
