The meeting, which started with the opening speeches of UNICEF Adolescent Development and Participation Officer Nilgün Çavuşoğlu and Climate Change Presidency President Orhan Solak, addressed the decision-making processes and perspectives of young people on climate change from 6 countries including Turkey. The establishment of the Climate Ambassadors, their goals and the next 6-month action plan were also discussed at the meeting, where Atlas University Climate Ambassador Damla Demir presented the “Protect the Blue” project, which includes ensuring the control of fishing nets to protect marine biodiversity. Stating that the “Protect the Blue” project aims to prevent illegal fishing by monitoring fishing nets with serial numbers, chips or radar systems, and to collect discarded nets by training divers, Demir said that this project will be an important step towards a more sustainable environment.

Representing our university as a Climate Ambassador, Damla Demir, a student at the Faculty of Dentistry, presented her “Protect the Blue” project at the Climate Ambassadors Institutionalization Process and COP27 Preparation Meeting organized in Ankara by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Climate Change Presidency.
