With this qualification gained by our Faculty of Medicine, our students and graduates will be able to take the USMLE exam (United States Medical Licensing Examination), which is required for anyone who wants to practice medicine in the United States. Also thanks to this qualification, medical degrees are accepted by provincial/territorial medical regulatory authorities in Canada and therefore by all medical bodies in Canada.
USMLE has three stages;
1 stage It is a test taken at the end of the third year of medical school. It covers topics such as Anatomy, Biochemistry, Behavioral Sciences, Microbiology, Immunology, Pathology, Pharmacology and Physiology, nutrition, Genetics and Aging. All questions are Multiple choice.
2 stage It is a two-day exam taken in the fourth and fifth grades of Medical Faculties. The first is called Clinical Knowledge, it is a multiple-choice exam in the disciplines of surgery, internal medicine, pediatrics, and obstetrics and gynecology. The second step is called Clinical Skill, and it is aimed at examining and diagnosing people acting as patients.
3 stage It is a two-day exam usually taken in the first year after arriving in the United States. It checks whether the patient is ready to practice general medicine in an unsupervised environment, and in the second step, he focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of patients. It includes both multiple choice questions and computer simulations of patient care. Generally, the first two steps are taken while the student is still in medical school, and then the third step is taken after graduation.
