At the event organized by the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Prof. Singh discussed interdisciplinary studies conducted in different fields such as systems biology, mathematical modeling, biomedical systems, virology, and neuroscience.
Interdisciplinary Studies and Collaboration Opportunities
The seminar also included discussions on bilateral cooperation opportunities with the University of Delaware, and future joint projects were planned accordingly.
Structure and Dynamics of Cellular Systems
In a seminar conducted by Professor Singh from the University of Delaware, the structure and dynamics of biomolecular networks, which form the basis of information processing and decision-making processes in living cells, were discussed. It was emphasized that these networks, formed by the interaction of numerous components such as genes, RNAs, and proteins within the cell, exhibit random and nonlinear behavior due to their low molecular numbers.
Computational Modeling Methods
The seminar introduced current computational modeling methods developed to understand these complex systems; it was stated that these approaches, when used in conjunction with experimental studies, allow for a more in-depth examination of cellular processes.
Current research topics were discussed.
In addition, current and important research topics such as the non-genetic origins of bacteria and cancer cells that develop tolerance to drugs, and the infection dynamics of viruses at the single-cell level were discussed.
