Prof. Dr. Ersoy Kocabıçak

Prof. Dr. Ersoy Kocabıçak received his PhD in neuroscience with his thesis titled "Subthalamic deep brain stimulation in Parkinson's disease: clinical and experimental perspective" at Maastricht University in the Netherlands, where he went for functional neurosurgery training after his brain and neurosurgery specialization training. Established for the first time in Turkey in 2017; He founded the Ondokuz Mayıs University Neuromodulation Center, which brings together scientific disciplines working together on movement disorders, psychiatric diseases and pain surgery under one roof.

Professional and scientific interests; movement disorders surgery, psychosurgery and neuromodulation applications. He has over 200 articles, book chapters and proceedings published in scientific journals, books and congresses. He is a founding member of the International Deep Brain Stimulation Association. He is currently a board member and Türkiye representative of the same association. He is the editor of the neurosurgery section of the Deep Brain Stimulation Journal. He serves as a committee member in the functional group of the European Society of Neurosurgery. He serves as president of the national deep brain stimulation association. He is a member of the board of directors of the Turkish Academy of Neurosurgery. He served as the secretary of the Stereotactic and functional group of the Turkish Neurosurgery Association for 2 terms, as the 1nd President for 2 term, and subsequently as the term president. He also served as a board member of the Neuromodulation research-education association for 2 terms.

He undertook the editorship of the book "DBS in neurological and psychiatric diseases", which is the first in the field of DBS in our country. To date, he has served as president or organizing committee member of many international and national organizations related to stereotactic and functional neurosurgery. He has given over 80 invited speeches regarding his field of expertise at scientific and social meetings. He provides consultancy to many universities and research hospitals in deep brain stimulation surgery training.
