Midwifery students receive skills training in three different laboratories during the training period: Midwifery-Nursing Skills Laboratory, Anatomy Model Training Laboratory / Dissection Laboratory and Simulated Operating Room Laboratory.
1. Midwifery-Nursing Skills Laboratory
Midwifery-Nursing Laboratory; “Basic Skills Laboratory”, “Basic Education Laboratory”, “Birth/Adult Simulation Center”, totaling 282.45 mXNUMX2 ' It consists of three education-training laboratories and two warehouses:
Basic Education Skills Laboratory 136.85 m2 The laboratory includes two projectors, various simulation models for the basic practical skills of nursing and midwifery, and cabinets containing consumables to be used during the semester. There are also 12 tables and 5 chairs where 62 students can sit across from each other (Figure 1).
Basic Principles and Skills Laboratory: 145.60 m2 This laboratory includes four skill development stations, each of which will provide skill training for 12 students, namely “Newborn Care”, “Basic Skills”, “Reproductive Health and Family Planning” and “Preparation for Birth”, as well as an advanced simulation center for childbirth and adult health, and a feedback room. This area also contains two warehouses containing models and consumables to be used in education. There are three simulation models, simple, electronic and software-based, that serve the transfer of nursing theory to practice in neonatal and adult care units (Figure: 2-4).
2.Anatomy Model Training Laboratory / Dissection Laboratory
This laboratory, which consists of two sections: “Anatomy Model Training Laboratory (131.05m2)” and “Dissection Laboratory (170.45m2)”, covers a total area of 301,1 m2.
The anatomy laboratory is the place where the education and research studies carried out within the scope of the Anatomy Department are carried out. In the laboratory, student education practices carried out within the scope of the Anatomy Department, research conducted by the department and joint studies with clinical branches are carried out.
3-Simulated Operating Room Laboratory
The Simulated Operating Room Laboratory covers an area of 49.12 m2. It is designed to prepare students for their hospital internships and to enable them to experience the operating room environment and processes in a realistic way. The operating room unit includes equipment such as operating lights, tables, and other medical devices; and introductions are made to consumables and textile materials. Students have the opportunity to develop their manual skills by using surgical sets that include cutting, compressing, grasping and separating tools classified as surgical instruments. In addition, they can perform surgical hand washing, surgical dressing, sterile table preparation, positioning and patient draping practices, which are among their job descriptions, on the device and the model under the guidance of faculty members.
