About the Department

Working in an interdisciplinary team and collaborating with other rehabilitation specialties, occupational therapists aim to maximize individual independence by supporting the person's role in daily life and participation in society.

The occupational therapist is an important part of the rehabilitation team. He actively works with healthcare professionals in fields such as pediatrics, neurology, rheumatology, geriatrics and psychiatry. It develops sensory, motor, cognitive and psychosocial skills to improve the quality of life in all age groups, reduce employment problems and increase social and community participation. Ensuring participation in and independence in life constitutes the most basic values ​​and most important skills that individuals have.

Occupational therapists work with both healthy people and people with health problems to improve health. The occupational therapy program is designed specifically for the individual. The occupational therapist evaluates the individual in detail in terms of his/her current skills in home life, work and social environment. It prepares and implements a program with the aim of preserving and developing these skills and increasing independence and productivity.

Occupational therapy program is an innovative field of rehabilitation that is developing in our country and whose career opportunities are expanding day by day. The science of occupational therapy, which has a broad vision, will take its place in the future as a popular health science intertwined with art among the health sciences in our country, as well as in the world.

Our university offers the most modern infrastructure in terms of education and practice to our students in our laboratory specially prepared for the Department of Occupational Therapy, which is prepared in accordance with the applied fields of occupational therapy science. With the laboratory specially prepared for applied courses, our students have the opportunity to complete their theoretical education in the field of occupational therapy with practical training.

In which fields can graduates find employment opportunities?

Graduates of the Department of Occupational Therapy generally have a wide field of work such as rehabilitation for sensory and developmental disorders, oncological rehabilitation, vocational rehabilitation, geriatric rehabilitation, neurological and orthopedic rehabilitation, hand rehabilitation, environmental regulations to improve health, driver rehabilitation and occupational therapy applications in schools.

Occupational therapists can also work in medical rehabilitation centers, vocational rehabilitation centers, school and education centers, home health services, and provide individualized rehabilitation intervention specific to the person's demands. Occupational therapists can continue their multidisciplinary rehabilitation service harmoniously throughout their careers with their holistic perspective in multidisciplinary rehabilitation processes.
