Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation is a discipline that encompasses scientifically based assessment and treatment approaches to improve the quality of life of individuals, maintain health, and restore functional independence in cases of illness, injury, or disability.
The Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, established in 2021 within the Faculty of Health Sciences at Istanbul Atlas University, offers education in both Turkish and English. Our students gain professional competence at an international level and are trained as graduates equipped to provide physiotherapy services on a global scale.
Physiotherapy encompasses a comprehensive range of methods for the assessment, treatment, and prevention of functional impairments resulting from disease, injury, environmental factors, or aging. Physiotherapists are healthcare professionals who develop personalized programs to increase individuals' physical capacity, restore their independence, and improve their quality of life.
The Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation at Istanbul Atlas University has developed its curriculum based on guidance from the World Physiotherapy Confederation (WP), the European Physiotherapy Education Network (ENPHE), and the National Core Education Program (UÇEP). The curriculum, designed in accordance with national and international standards, offers a four-year undergraduate education comprised of three core phases: theoretical, practical, and clinical. Graduates graduate with the title of Physiotherapist and a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation.
Our department aims to train physiotherapists who embrace the principle of lifelong learning, are sensitive to ethical values and patient rights, and closely follow scientific and technological advancements. During their training, students have the opportunity to receive hands-on training in various specialties, including orthopedic, neurological, cardiopulmonary, pediatric, geriatric rehabilitation, and women's health physiotherapy.
Application areas, including the state-of-the-art Electrotherapy and Physical Agents Laboratory, the Therapeutic Exercise Laboratory, and the Manual Therapy Laboratory, allow students to integrate their theoretical knowledge with clinical skills. Furthermore, our students gain an early understanding of scientific research by actively participating in TÜBİTAK, TÜSEB, and BAP projects.
Our department graduates can work in public and private healthcare institutions, sports centers, rehabilitation clinics, academic institutions, and international healthcare organizations; they can also benefit from education and internship opportunities abroad through exchange programs such as Erasmus+.
As Istanbul Atlas University, Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, we are proud to train physiotherapists who are competent, innovative, and add value to society at national and international levels, with our educational approach based on scientific knowledge, ethical values, and a human-centered approach.
