Anti-Poverty Policy
The Poverty Alleviation Policy is a key component of Sustainable Development Goal 1 (SDG 1), which aims to end poverty in all its forms everywhere. Istanbul Atlas University contributes to the fight against poverty through both its academic research and its social responsibility projects in line with this goal.
Atlas University collaborates with various institutions, development agencies, and internationally to share its knowledge and research findings on combating poverty. The university designs projects to support local communities by improving the skills and knowledge of local people and focusing on increasing youth employability.
In addition, through the Erasmus+ program and similar international collaborations, it contributes to increasing financial inclusion and facilitating student access to education and career opportunities through scholarships and grants. Atlas University's academic research and field practice support local governments and stakeholder institutions in developing more effective strategies to reduce poverty.
Atlas University Supports Low-Income Students
Istanbul Atlas University accepts students from all regions of Türkiye each academic year, including remote and underserved provinces. Scholarships and discounts offered to young people from regions with limited access to higher education, such as Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia, strengthen equal educational opportunities.
The university provides versatile support such as the YKS Quota Scholarship, Additional Preference Discount, Vocational High School Scholarship, Discounts for Relatives of Martyrs and Veterans, Barrier-Free Life Discount, Family and Alumni Discounts, which can also be used by students in the bottom 20% of the household income group.

Istanbul Atlas University organizes a program to support the career planning of its students. Career Days The event brought together more than 40 institutions and organizations with students. The university also offers guidance to students who fall into the bottom 20% of the country's household income bracket, focusing on graduation and completion goals.
Many institutions such as Reeder, Boyner, Turkuaz Healthcare, Opak Optik, İŞKUR, Genç MÜSİAD, Boyner, Dora Hospital, Domino's Pizza, ÜNOKS, Nevada Coffee, Bahçeci Health Group, Ricoh, Zoomlion, Startup Centrum and Tusdata took part in the event.
Atlas University's Career Center provides consulting support to help students get to know themselves, discover their talents, and shape their career paths. Career Days, organized as part of this initiative, help students, especially those with limited financial means, enter the workforce with stronger steps after graduation.
Atlas University Provides Supplementary Support to Low-Income Students
In line with its goal of fostering equal opportunities in education, Istanbul Atlas University offers a variety of support to help low-income students successfully complete university. This includes transportation scholarships, special assistance for earthquake victims, and, within a set of guidelines, identifying and providing scholarship opportunities to low-income students.
The university also offers housing support through partner dormitories, educational support through various scholarship and discount models, and psychosocial and legal counseling opportunities in collaboration with various institutions when needed. It also provides consulting services regarding internship and job opportunities, and organizes various activities and short and long trips to strengthen students' social integration.

The Atlas Technology Transfer Office (TTO) and Pre-Incubation Program, established for this purpose, provide ongoing support to academics, students, and entrepreneurs. Under the TTO umbrella, awareness events and training are organized, commercial and legal consulting is provided, information about the BİGG (Individual Young Enterprise) program is provided, and mentoring services are offered. In addition to these efforts, the Atlas Incubation Program has established a dedicated structure to meet the support needs of entrepreneurs in various areas. The Marketing and Promotion Office, established as part of the program, provides a wide range of support to entrepreneurs, from branding and product-market fit to advertising strategies. The Design Office develops solutions for corporate identity, investor presentations, and promotional materials. The Mentorship and Consultancy Office provides guidance on product and service commercialization, customer acquisition, and investment consulting. The Law Office offers legal advice on a wide range of topics, from contracts to investor cooperation agreements. The Finance Office helps entrepreneurs make financial projections, access investment resources and manage risks.
For entrepreneurs looking to transform their innovative ideas into business models, the Pre-Incubation Center provides six months of workspace, training and interviews, business plan development, consulting, laboratory support, and opportunities to reach their first customers. Entrepreneurs nearing the corporate stage also have access to dedicated workspaces, investor networks, and pre-financing support from Atlas University through the Incubation Center.

One of the most recent examples of this approach is Destade Yazılım ve Teknoloji A.Ş., founded with the support of the university.
This initiative, launched with the contributions of Dr. Yusuf Elgörmüş, Chairman of the Atlas University Board of Trustees, and resources provided by the university, was founded by Muhammed Reşit Kaplan, a third-year student in the Computer Engineering Department. Operating under the umbrella of Atlas TEKMER, the company uses a Digital Ordering System developed by the university to enable students and academic and administrative staff to quickly and easily place orders at on-campus restaurants using QR codes or the My Atlas app.
With such examples, Atlas University provides not only academic education but also entrepreneurship and innovation-focused support, leading the transformation of students' projects into sustainable businesses.
Atlas University Takes Strong Steps to Access Basic Services
Istanbul Atlas University offers comprehensive support to its students not only in academic programs but also in healthcare, social life, housing, transportation, and guidance, with the aim of improving everyone's access to basic services.
The university, which offers students spacious classrooms, laboratories, a library and social areas on its modern campus in Kağıthane, also provides hands-on training opportunities with clinical simulation centers established especially for the faculties of medicine, dentistry and health sciences.
Student health and safety are among our top priorities. The on-campus health unit provides basic healthcare services, while for more comprehensive treatment needs, we collaborate with public and private hospitals. International students can access public healthcare services through General Health Insurance (GSS). Security is provided by 24/7 staff and camera systems.

In 2024, the university distinguished itself with awareness-raising activities that directly impacted society. Antibiotic Awareness Day, held on November 18th, was held via Zoom with the theme "Rational Use of Antibiotics: A Conscious Approach to Combating Antimicrobial Resistance." Prof. Dr. Fatma Bozkurt, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zeynep Güneş Özünal, and Prof. Dr. Neşe Lortlar Ünlü were featured as speakers at the event.
