Oral and Dental Health Program

Oral and Dental Health Technician is a technical personnel who assists the dentist during the treatment of oral cavity and jaw disorders arranged by the dentist, conveys the basic information necessary to develop oral and dental health awareness to the patient, and is authorized to perform preventive dentistry practices under the supervision of the dentist.

About the Program

The purpose of the Oral and Dental Health Program; To train knowledgeable, experienced, dentist-assisting health personnel who are educated at the associate degree level needed in the field of dental health. Students who graduate from the program receive the title of "Oral and Dental Health Technician".

Oral and Dental Health Technician is a technical personnel who assists the dentist during the treatment of oral cavity and jaw disorders arranged by the dentist, conveys the basic information necessary to develop oral and dental health awareness to the patient, and is authorized to perform preventive dentistry practices under the supervision of the dentist.

It prepares dental units for examination and other procedures, monitors the sterilization of the materials used, and ensures surface disinfection and sterilization. Performs duties such as providing and preparing the necessary materials according to the treatment method to be applied by the physician during patient examination and treatment applications, assisting the treating physician during the treatment procedures, and ensuring the supply and control of treatment and consumables in the clinic.

What are the qualifications required by the program?

Our students who are interested in Atlas University Oral and Dental Health Program must be successful in the YKS (TYT) score type. In addition, our students are expected to be interested in Biology, Physics, Anatomy, Physiology and basic medical sciences required by the program. In terms of professional maturity and usefulness after graduation; Characteristics such as being prone to productivity and active work, knowing how to make the most of scientific data, having advanced communication and persuasion skills, enjoying helping others, being disciplined and patient are important.

In which fields can graduates find employment opportunities?

According to the data prepared by the Ministry of Health for 2023 target planning, it indicates that there is a need for approximately 30.000 new Dentists and, in parallel, Oral and Dental Health Technicians for oral and dental health in our country. Graduates can work in dental laboratories, dental clinics, dental health-related units of hospitals and companies that provide technical equipment for dental health.
