About the Department

Midwifery is a profession that provides monitoring, care, consultancy and training in order to improve, protect, maintain and treat the health of mothers and babies starting from the preconception period, pregnancy, birth and postpartum period, carries out normal birth and family planning services, and supports the health of women, children, families and society. It is a health discipline that contributes to the improvement of health.

What are the qualifications required by the program?

Midwifery Department  Students who choose this course will increase their success if they have personality traits such as having high communication skills, being empathetic, being patient, and taking responsibility.

What opportunities does the program offer to its students?

Istanbul Atlas University offers comprehensive education with its expert academic staff and multidisciplinary approach. The midwifery laboratory, designed for applied courses, integrates experience with the theoretical education of our students.

As Istanbul Atlas University Midwifery Department, our students will have the opportunity to receive training with high-tech simulation models available in a few universities in Turkey in order to gain midwifery skills, and they will gain experience in the university environment as close to reality as possible before going to the hospital. At the same time, we have high-tech application glasses where our students can watch the applications made by academics online through their own eyes so that they can gain midwifery skills remotely.

They will be able to continue using the university's facilities not during their education but after their education is completed. The department's curriculum is designed to enable students to acquire all kinds of professional knowledge, skills and competencies, both theoretically and practically, along with basic science courses.

In which fields can graduates find employment opportunities?

Graduates of the Department of Midwifery have the opportunity to work in institutions that carry out many health practices, training and screening activities, such as Private or Public Hospitals, University Hospitals, Community Health Centers (TSM, ASM). They can also work independently by opening a private cabin, monitor pregnant women and give birth. Midwifery is one of the departments with the widest and easiest employment opportunities in our country, which means that there is still a high need for graduates. Graduates can participate in academic life at universities by completing their master's and doctorate degrees.
