The ergotherapist achieves this goal by developing the skills of individuals and communities to do the activities they want, need or expect from them, or by organizing the activity and the environment in a way that enables better participation of the person.
The occupational therapist is part of the rehabilitation team. It actively works with healthcare professionals in fields such as pediatrics, neurology, rheumatology, geriatrics, and psychiatry. It develops sensory, motor, cognitive and psychosocial skills in order to increase the quality of life, reduce employment problems, and increase social and social participation in all age groups.
Ergotherapists work with people who are healthy and have health problems to improve health. The ergotherapy program is organized individually. The ergotherapist evaluates the individual in detail in terms of his current skills in home life, work and social environment. It prepares and executes a program for the purpose of protecting, developing these skills, increasing independence and productivity.
What are the qualifications and features required by the department?
Our students who are interested in the occupational therapy program must be successful in the YKS (AYT) numerical score type. In addition, our students are expected to be interested in biology, chemistry, physiology, psychology and basic medical sciences required by the program. In terms of professional maturity and usefulness after graduation; Features such as being prone to art and design, knowing how to benefit from scientific data at the highest level, having advanced communication and persuasion skills, enjoying helping others, being disciplined and patient are important.
