Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics (English)

Molecular Biology and Genetics is one of the basic branches of science that investigates how biomolecules function and how genetic information is transferred, contributing to many fields such as researching the formation mechanisms of the important diseases of our age, DNA analysis, gene mapping, genetic counseling, drug design and food technologies.

About the Department

What are the qualifications required by the program?

Choosing the Molecular Biology and Genetics department by individuals who are interested in biological science, like to work in a laboratory environment, are research-oriented, and follow current scientific studies will increase their success.

What opportunities does the program offer to its students?

With Atlas University Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, our students are experts who are trained with high-tech laboratory infrastructure for molecular biology and genetic science, which are needed more and more in many developing fields such as medicine, agriculture and industry, and who are self-confident in solving problems and innovating and can work independently. We aim to be. It is aimed for our students to participate in the scientific research carried out by our academics in their fields, to reinforce the theoretical foundations they have gained throughout their education and to gain experience. During their education, our students can carry out their clinical practices by using the facilities of our University Hospital as well as department laboratories and improve their practical experience.

Our department students will be given mainly basic sciences and cell biology courses in the first two years of their education. After completing molecular genetics, biochemistry, physiology, molecular biology courses and application courses in the field of the department in their third year, they can take elective courses in areas of interest such as developmental biology, biotechnology, cancer and immunology in their fourth year. In addition, our students can take courses that suit their interests from different disciplines from our university's elective course pool.

In which fields can graduates find employment opportunities?

Our graduates of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, “Molecular Biologist and Geneticist” They will receive the title. Our students who complete their education can work as researchers in institutions such as universities and research centers, they can work in medical faculties and health sector, such as diagnosis and treatment centers of genetic diseases, in fields requiring biotechnology such as food and agriculture, and in many laboratories, including transgenic animal production.
