Medical Biology and Genetics are in constant contact with disciplines such as gynecology and obstetrics, oncology, hematology, urology, rheumatology and immunology in the field of health for diagnosis and treatment. Early diagnosis, prenatal genetic diagnosis and preimplantation genetic diagnosis are of great importance for genetic diseases that can or cannot be treated. The high rates of consanguineous marriages in our country and the high carrier rate of some single gene diseases (Mediterranean anemia, FMF, etc.) create a need for more trained scientists and academicians to take part in the prevention of genetic diseases. In recent years, new smart drugs are being designed every day for the treatment of non-congenital genetic diseases such as cancer.
Medical genetics plays an active role in the presence, absence and combination of somatic mutation/s for the prediction of this smart drug treatment, and more and more medical geneticists with basic knowledge and practice on this subject are needed every day. For these reasons, our aim is to provide diagnosis and treatment of genetic diseases in the health field of our country and to train graduates who work as academicians and publish nationally and/or internationally by providing academically well-trained scientists.
