In addition to providing theoretical knowledge, the Medical Microbiology Master's Program aims to provide technical skills through laboratory studies. By offering an education model based on gaining the skills of accessing information, conducting research, planning experiments, solving problems, interpreting experimental results, making presentations, and developing strategies on microbiology-related issues, at the end of microbiology master's degree education, it supports contemporary, technology-friendly and modern medicine, which is preferred on the international platform. It is among the priorities of our medical microbiology master's program to train individuals who can continue to operate at a high level.
Scope of the Program
Istanbul Atlas University Medical Microbiology master's program; Education is provided in classrooms and laboratories.
The language of education is Turkish and foreign students are also accepted into the program. The type of education is full time.
Applications for the Medical Microbiology Master's Program are made to Istanbul Atlas University Graduate Education Institute Directorate. Students who meet the application prerequisites take the interview and written exam held in our Department on the date notified to them. Students' success scores are determined according to the contributions of written exams, interviews, ALES-Foreign Language scores and similar evaluation criteria.
The ECTS credits of the Thesis Medical Microbiology Master's Program are 120 and the duration of study is four semesters. Students who have successfully completed all the courses required in this program must prepare a thesis on a topic to be determined by their thesis advisor together with their thesis advisor in the remaining time and defend their master's thesis in front of the jury. A graduate student who is successful in the thesis exam and meets the Graduation Requirements of Istanbul Atlas University Graduate School of Education is awarded a master's degree.
Students who successfully complete this department will gain knowledge in the fields of general bacteriology, virology, parasitology, mycology, immunology, microbial genetics and biotechnology.
Gains general knowledge and learns the laboratory methods used in these fields at theoretical and practical levels.
Students who have completed their master's degree are ready for doctoral education and academic life. In addition, our students have the opportunity to work in R&D laboratories of the healthcare industry, pharmaceutical production, drug research (quality control, clinical research), diagnostic product sales companies, business areas requiring sterilization control and many other fields.
