About the Program

Program; Midwives, who are shown as extremely important health professionals in protecting and improving maternal and newborn health in the national and international arena, aim to increase conscious manpower in the field of midwifery, in line with the needs of the country, and provide in-depth knowledge with a holistic approach in protecting and improving maternal and newborn health, guided by ethical principles. It was established to train midwives who will receive postgraduate education in order to contribute to the professionalization process of the midwifery profession in Turkey, as a researcher who provides and proficiency, specializes with the necessary experience, cares about a multidisciplinary approach, is a scientist and adopts evidence-based practices in the field.

Providing training opportunities to midwives with the program; Transferring in-depth knowledge and experience specific to the field so that they can carry their profession to an advanced professional identity; Ensuring midwives' effectiveness in health protection, promotion, early diagnosis and treatment guidance services through critical thinking, thus protecting and improving public health; improving the quality of care by reflecting evidence-based practices to work areas; It is aimed to meet the demand for postgraduate education in midwifery at regional and national levels. Upon completion of the Midwifery Thesis Master's Program, you will be able to conduct research in your field as an expert midwife.

Scope of the Program

Istanbul Atlas University Midwifery Thesis Master's Program; Having gained scientific understanding and being able to transform their knowledge in the field of midwifery into skills in the field of expertise, having comprehensive and contemporary knowledge and skills, the ability to think creatively and critically, being sensitive to the health problems and care needs of individuals, families and society at national and international levels, being able to protect and improve health and solve health problems. It trains scientific experts who can use community-supported and multidisciplinary approach methods in the field of midwifery, who can access and evaluate information on the concepts, principles and methods of midwifery, who can conduct scientific research, and who can transfer the advanced midwifery basic knowledge and skills they have acquired to the field of application and teaching midwifery principles.

The Midwifery Thesis Master's Program includes basic medical sciences, midwifery field courses and elective courses.

Midwifery Thesis Master's Program consists of a total of 4 ECTS courses in 120 semesters, including two semesters of courses and two semesters of thesis study courses. The student must enroll in the thesis study course in the semester in which the thesis study course is taken and submit a written report at the end of the semester. The thesis study course is non-credit and is evaluated as pass or fail. A maximum of three of the courses the student will take can be chosen from undergraduate courses, provided that they were not taken during undergraduate education. A proficiency exam may be administered at the end of the training process according to the principles determined by the Senate.
